Automated detection of trace target compounds in complex chemical emission profiles from products and materials
Application Note 090
Testing chemical emissions from products usually involves placing product samples in environmental chambers or microchambers, with subsequent vapour sampling onto sorbent tubes and thermal desorption (TD)–GC–MS analysis. The resulting emission profiles can be complex, and contain many target compounds at trace levels. This makes them time-consuming and difficult to interpret correctly. There is therefore a need for software that can help speed up this process.
This application note demonstrates the application of TargetView™ software for identifying trace-level hazardous compounds in the complex emission profiles from household products and materials (plasterboard, children’s toys, and mahogany).
