Selection of gas flows and split ratios during thermal desorption
Application Note 022
In common with gas chromatography generally, the four most important parameters for thermal desorption (TD) methods are sorbent (stationary phase) selection, temperature, gas flow and time – see Application Note 021. Of these, gas flow, and the power it has to enhance TD methods, is perhaps often the least well understood.
This application note aims to help users in this respect by providing guidance for setting and optimising gas flow rates during two-stage thermal desorption procedures and describes how to select and calculate split ratios.
