What causes poor chromatogram peak shape when using thermal desorption?
There are a number of causes of poor peak shape in chromatograms when using thermal desorption. These can give rise to quite distinctive symptoms, including:
- Tailing or broadening of early-eluting peaks.
- Generally poor peak shape.
- Broad peaks.
Application Note 006 gives a comprehensive explanation of the underlying causes of each of these.
