Certified Reference Standard (CRS) tube (BTX)C-BTX100-10
Certified reference standard (CRS) tubes are packed sorbent tubes loaded with certified levels of relevant analytes. Prepared by an expert national standard laboratory to ensure high accuracy in loading levels, they are a convenient tool for in-house quality assurance and auditing of the complete TD–GC(–MS) analytical process, including calibration protocols.
- Supplied with a shipping blank, and example chromatograms of the loaded tubes/shipping blank
- Designed to validate the instrument and analytical process for quality assurance.
- Recommended for routine use at a defined frequency, in line with good laboratory practice
- Options for custom packing and loading available

CRS tubes offered by Markes International are prepared by an expert national standards laboratory following approved methodology (ISO 6145 parts 4 or 8, accredited to ISO 17025). Tubes are certified traceable to primary standards, contain amounts of analytes accurate to ±3% at levels above 100 ng and ±5% for masses from 10–100 ng. They are supplied in packs of 10 tubes with an additional shipping blank.
Tubes are shipped in sealed foil bags to keep them airtight and out of direct sunlight during transport. For storage, Markes recommends wrapping them in foil and storing them in airtight non-emitting containers, such as the tube container (C-325CT).
Markes offers three types of CRS tubes:
BTX CRS tubes, which are loaded with benzene, toluene and o-xylene at a concentration of 100 ng per component. These standards are prepared using conditioned Tenax TA tubes and have a certified shelf-life of 6 months. BTX CRS tubes are suitable for the majority of environmental applications.
TO-17 CRS tubes, which are loaded with nine components of varying volatilities and polarities that are typical of the compounds found during ‘air toxics’ monitoring. The compounds included are benzene, toluene, o-xylene, 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene, dichloromethane, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, methyl tert-butyl ether, methyl ethyl ketone and ethyl acetate. The loading concentration of each component is 100 ng. These standards are prepared on conditioned Tenax TA tubes and have a certified shelf-life of 6 months.
Custom CRS tubes, which are loaded with a customer-specific combination of stable chemicals onto conditioned sorbent tubes. Up to eight compounds can be specified, with the sorbent typically being Tenax TA (although others are available). To order, please discuss your requirements with a Markes specialist, but note that a minimum order quantity may apply.
